Emerging Themes

President McInnis has engaged thousands in the Yale community in conversations about what Yale’s future should look like. Over the course of these discussions, several areas of focus emerged that will help Yale face new challenges and keep moving forward: Enhancing and expanding educational opportunities for our students; maintaining Yale’s status as a destination university for the world’s foremost scholars and teachers; setting and meeting ever higher expectations in our pursuit of academic excellence; increasing the collaboration and impact of our faculty’s research and scholarship; and welcoming diverse viewpoints with open minds and compassionate hearts.

The contributions Yale makes will enrich and extend even more lives in our community, our country, and all over the world. The scholarship we produce will push the boundaries of human understanding and progress, and we will help rebuild trust in higher education and champion its transformative role in society.
