Broadening intellectual life

Dialogue and debate are essential to the function and flourishing of scholarship, and the richness of university life is built on a spirit of fearless exploration. Half a century ago, Yale released the landmark Woodward Report. This forward-looking document emphasized our university’s long tradition of securing academic freedom. We continue to believe in it as a value and an ethos, and we are still working to further the report’s conclusions.

Teaming up with our neighbors

Earning trust

For higher education to flourish, we need the public’s trust. That’s why President McInnis has made regaining it a central presidential priority. Most recently, she formed the Committee on Trust in Higher Education to study the recent erosion of public trust in higher education and make recommendations for how universities like Yale can earn it back. The work continues.
