Men’s Lacrosse Wins National Championship

May 29, 2018

Yesterday marked a terrific day in Yale athletics history: our men’s lacrosse team defeated Duke to win the 2018 NCAA Division I championship—a first in program history! I encourage you to view this slideshow of photos from the game.

The championship game capped an incredible season for our Yale students. As you can tell from the photos, I certainly enjoyed watching yesterday’s finale! But it was a privilege to see them compete throughout the season. Their talent, drive, and determination were on full display in every minute of play. And I know that countless hours of practice and preparation, this spring and in many off-seasons, contributed to the victory yesterday in Gillette Stadium.

This achievement truly reflects the power of teamwork. I extend my congratulations to all members of the men’s lacrosse team, Head Coach Andy Shay and the entire coaching staff, Director of Athletics Tom Beckett, and everyone who supported this team and our students along the way.
